U of A plans to expand DK Ranch farm science programs

The University of Arizona plans to renovate and update its 45-acre DK Ranch experimental station, which sits along the west bank of Oak Creek near Cornville, to provide more learning opportunities for students and agriculturalists in central and northern Arizona.

Fresh vegetable industry leader Taylor earns UA Honorary Doctorate degree

When it comes to putting farm-fresh produce on America's dining tables, Bruce Taylor may just be the salad king. He serves as chairman and CEO of Taylor Fresh, also known as Taylor Farms, the largest producer of salads and fresh-cut vegetables in North America.

Taylor was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Arizona 2024 Spring Convocation. He was nominated by the faculty of the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness.

Desert agriculture gets new leadership

Yuma native Tanya Hodges, the face of the University of Arizona in Yuma, La Paz, and Imperial Counties, has been named new YCEDA Director. She is anxious to guide efforts to provide fast-track solutions to high-priority issues within the desert agricultural industry.

UArizona announces new tripartite water research centers with international partners

The University of Arizona is expanding its global research efforts by launching tripartite water research centers in partnership with Kozybayev University in Kazakhstan and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in China. This collaboration aims to address pressing global water concerns through a unified and innovative approach.

Tabashnik elected to National Academy of Sciences

Bruce Tabashnik, University of Arizona Regents Professor of Entomology, has been elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Tabashnik, whose discoveries have advanced understanding of insect resistance to transgenic crops and helped to eradicate the invasive pink bollworm from the United States and Mexico, was one of 120 new members elected to the academy this month, along with 23 international members, in recognition of distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Toker offers wealth of entrepreneurial experience to CALES students and faculty

Researchers Develop Tools to Listen, Talk to Plants with $25M from NSF

I am the dean of the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I tell all our research scientists that we aren't hired to prove our preconceptions or to advocate. We don't set policy. Our job is to do the best science and to provide unbiased data. We also use our scientific expertise to review what others have done.
